Volunteership in Apna Ghar (Feb-April, August-Sept 2011)
I worked as a volunteer in Apna Ghar for approximately four months. Both times I focused on “Teaching English“ to the kids in a non-formal way, whereas I combined this activity with arts and crafts in my second volunteership.

When I saw the kids´ welcoming attitude towards all of the volunteers, I was really surprised. It does not matter whether one shares their language, culture or religion – in Apna Ghar, everyone is equal and that is why one feels like being at home there. This is one of the main aspects for me why I enjoyed my work at the shelter and loved to spend time there with the kids as well as with the supporting staff.
If I had the chance to work again with SBT, I would definitely embrace this chance because it is not only the kids learning from you but also you who can learn a lot from them!
